are steppin' right up
we’re givin’ these guys

the old college try

‘cause how hard could it be

to play them you see

a trumpet or ‘bone

might be easy to blow

and Sophie’s no fool

she  knows she’d look cool

to her buds in pre-school!

But Sophie does know

that a horn’s hard to blow

and harder to hold

when you’re just 2 years old

so she’s thinking, yes

she’ll  work on finesse

with her french horn kazoo

and her flutophone, too

Sophie’s Pouty Poppies

our poppies are wailin’

has the sun gone sailin’?

their petals are drippin’

their stems cannot lift ‘em

they’re sad and be-draggled

their foliage is fraggled

‘tis def’nitely not

a show stopping lot

but we won’t despair

though there’s puddles everywhere

we hope the rains stop

so our poppies can Pop!

Spring Musical

oh spring

is the thing

we hope for in November

long for in December

lose in January

right through February

cry for in March

die for in April

can’t wait one more day

for the merry month of May

and still cold temps cling

to every bloomin’ thing!

so when the month of June

bursts suddenly into view

I look around and smile

and bid stay with me awhile

Haughty

that’s what

my Sophie thought

the first time she viewed

my tulips in bloom

‘cause there they all stood

as only they could

with petals held high

reaching up to the sky

now Sophie and I

know daffodils try

to brighten our days

with their friendly ways

not haughty, aloof

their faces, the proof

of good will and cheer

‘cause springtime is near...

like ducklings in tow

they watch us, you know

it seems they just want

to join us for brunch!

so sit down a spell

there’s gossip to tell

we girls like to be

informed well, you see.....
