Welcome

Welcome to my blog where you can view a sampling of my watercolor paintings and discover why for me, Art Is Instrumental. These, as well as many more in my studio, are for sale and looking for good homes!

Methods and Madness

Sometimes I paint fast and loose

Other times quite controlled

The subject decides the method

But each work has the same goal:

A painting that is successful

And beautiful to behold!

Com-Posers! Watercolors by Bertie Brown

Com-Posers!
original watercolor sunflowers

what HO!
is it SO??
well not quite
you know
but i COULD NOT wait
in fact it was fate
that beckoned me thus
to BUY them and paint
and so here I am
content once again
though just for a bit
in sunny respite
so hasten on, JUNE
i’m beckoning you
to put on the moves

and get here real SOON!

Back in the Day Still Life Watercolors by Bertie Brown

Back in the Day
original watercolor still life with/coffe pot, bottle, plate: 11" x 14"

how much can i hold
in my arms when i’m told
they're filled up with me
do you see, yes indeed
it’s getting so bad
i’m leaving a trail
of this and of that
it’s ridiculous, i wail
well…maybe it’s just
a sign of the times
i’ll not make a fuss

nor sweat small stuff!

Junque 'n Stuff Watercolors by Bertie Brown

Junque 'n Stuff
original watercolr still life w/skillet, bottles, coffee pot: 11" x 14"

Hey there Sophie
What can we say
Of this painting
That is waiting
For a clever
word endeavor
Tying everything together to the letter
We’ve got glassware
we found somewhere
cast iron skillet
cup, please fill it!
coffee pot we
think is antique
Reminiscent of past days so much less frantic
Did we mention
That cute donkey
A slow stepper
Salt and pepper
And those patterns
 Folds and colors

Help unite the subjects all to one another...
