Rough 'n Red-dy Watercolors by Bertie Brown
Rough 'n Red-dy
original watercolor still life w/daffodils: 12" x 14"
I think that it’s done
and I had some fun
‘though there a few
solutions that skewed
my original view
and managed to be
surprising, you see
so now I don’t know
if it’s fit to show
if not,
you’ve just got
to tell me to Stop!

Tulip Time Watercolors by Bertie Brown
Tulip Time
original watercolor tulips: 9" x 12"
Haughty
that’s what
my Sophie thought
the first time she viewed
our tulips in bloom
‘cause there they all stood
as only they could
with petals held high
reaching up to the sky
now Sophie and I
know daffodils try
to brighten our days
with their friendly ways
not haughty, aloof
their faces, the proof
of good will and cheer
‘cause springtime is here

That Girl Watercolors by Bertie Brown
That Girl
original watercolor portraits: 11" x 15"
remember in school
we learned the rule
that there were cliques
a specialty list
of kids way cool
though we weren’t fools
our own gene pools
just did not rule
we weren’t as blessed
our confidence less
we weren’t sure why
and could not guess
and now these girls
with all their curls
just look to me
like they would be
the pop-ular kids, indeed!

Complaining Com-Posers Watercolors by Bertie Brown
Complaining Com-Posers
originalwatercolor sunflowers: 8" x 10"
Tuff Stuff
There once was a spring breeze named Sough
Not harsh nor decidedly tough
He nudged winter’s huff
Said “pick up your stuff”
And blew it away with a puff!
(do your stuff, sough!)

The Veggi Table Watercolors by Bertie Brown
The Veggi Table
original watercolor still life w/sunflowers, veggies: 9" x 12"
Spring Musical
oh spring
is the thing
we hope for in November
long for in December
lose in January
right through February
cry for in March
die for in April
can’t wait one more day
for the merry month of May
and still cold temps cling
to every bloomin’ thing!
so when the month of June
bursts suddenly into view
I’ll look around and smile
and bid stay with me awhile
