yes it’s true that this girl named BB

once played horn in her town’s symphony 

when she lost her good buzz

she took up uke cuzz

ukers don’t fret, they sing and they strum!

so come to the Ukulele

Uprising and surely you’ll see

that strumming the uke

with this friendly group

is great fun on Tuesday eve’nings

but what can ya do

now Sophie is 9

does gymnastics and dance

when she’s got the chance

she loves to do crafts

Annabelle’s 8

a whippersnapp-ee

plays piano and swims

and sings beautifully

the Wildman’s number 3

that’s Aaron, you see

he loves his play dough

and superheros

they’re all growing up

and what does that mean?

my sons are not teens

but middle age-ees!

and PopPop and me?

we hate to admit

we’re mature, just a bit

and, well, elder-ly : SH_T!

yet we ALL agree

in our fam'ly tree

those grandies are still

the bees knees in threes!

remember in school

we learned the rule

that there were cliques

a specialty list

of kids way cool

though we weren’t fools

our own gene pools

just did not rule

we weren’t as blessed

our confidence less

we weren’t sure why 

and could not guess

and now these girls 

with all their curls

just look to me

like they would be

the pop-ular kids, indeed!

this summer’s the bomb

at flirting, you see

‘cause just when you feel

a cool  weightless breeze

a sun so friendly

you’re relaxin’ indeed

a thick hulking cloud 

of hu-MID-ity

descends with a shout

and spreads itself out

oh yes there’s the rub

to summer time fun

those idyllic days

are here and then gone.......
