Sophie and I
in summertime mode
are sitting beside
a veggie abode
a garden, of course
where we plan to stay
with no great remorse
for past cooler days
‘cause we’ve got our paints
our brushes and such
our sun hats in place
and veggies a bunch!
so here’s where we’ll be
come sun or a storm
we’ll work happily
our summertime ‘norm’!

well I’ve just gotta say
crime never ever does pay
those eggplants will be booked
by a well known famous cook
who will know just what to make
with some peppers, they’ll taste great!

it’s blisterin hot
not one cold spot
‘cept here in the store
by the frozen freezer door
where I pretend to stock up
on creamsicle pops
but truth to be told
it’s just good to feel cold!

went out for a run
this very fine day
had lots to be done
stuff that gets in the way
of some fun in the sun
but nature’s libretto
called out ceremo-nious
in pleasing vibrato
a sound tremolo-nious
twas something I sought to
experience in perso-nious
and when I got done
on this very fine day
from my run in the sun
I was all tuned up and completely harmo-nious

sweet scents of seduction
flirty fireflies wink
quick bursts of combustion
warm summer nights
a cashmere caress
sun-drenched daylight
cool linen, dazzling white
'tis summer’s sun-dance
these days go by fast
so enjoy while it lasts
