Methods and Madness

Sometimes I paint fast and loose

Other times quite controlled

The subject decides the method

But each work has the same goal:

A painting that is successful

And beautiful to behold!

Eastern Point Perspectives Rockport Watercolors by Bertie Brown

Eastern Point Prspectives

original watercolor Cape Ann Lighthouse: 10" x 14"

Symphony in Sea Major

Lobster buoys afloat

Lighthouses as beacons

 Decorating the coast

Sublime northern light

Enveloping the sights

While dancing on tides

Tossing boats and floats

From side to side

Cormorants and gulls

Line up on the rocks

By the boats, or the docks

As they noisily wait

For some leftover bait

Granite boulders endure

Protecting the shore

Applauding the sea
BRAVO!

What a glorious symphony!

a Menagerie of Watercolors by Bertie Brown

Coast Guard
original watercolor seascape w/lighthouse: 5" x 8"
Goldfinch Grinch
original watercolor w/goldfinch: 8" x 10"
Lyrical Landscape
original watercolor landscape: 9" x 9"

In the Blooming
my bed of sunflowers
prepping for hours
is all set to host
an end of summer toast
boasting nectar so sweet
tasty seeds, what a treat
for our faithful dine-ees
all feasting happily
dragonflies, bumble bees
butterflies, such drama queens
golden finches,
those much reformed grinches
heady heat waves
shimmer and sway
hovering o’er
 this late summer day
I wave goodbye
as they pack up, they try
to smile through their sighs
then southward they fly
the long winter’s night
is approaching too soon
will they come back next June?

I hope so, I do.
