it’s nat’ral you know
‘cause curiously
most cows are the same
they’re curious you see
so if there’s a change
some diff’rent decor
they're gonna be there
to check it, for sure!

Coming of Age.....
so it seems that’s a YES
without op’ning a door
we’re passing right through
to an age we abhor
.....it’s TOO SOON!
we’d ignore it, we should
but the details are there
and the signs that we would
quite deny..it’s NOT FAIR!
BUT
we’ve found some fine perks
and events we now greet
that graciously work
turning bitter to sweet....
we’ve GRANDIES to meet!
it’s truly a joy
our life’s second wind
when our girls and our boys
leave, new lives to begin
then finally..BEHOLD!
our grandies arrive
our hearts all but sold
on these new little lives...
SO
we’re coming of age
but we don’t feel old
‘cause there’s life once again
our legacy to hold
we spoil them all day
and the thing that’s inspired
they go home, by the way,
when we’re pooped out and tired

want y’all to know
they’re still hangin’ round
the ‘old folks’ hometown
seems they’re gettin’ set
to host an event
it’s been 50 years
since they left the nest
the menu’s the same
though some might complain
‘cause aging has changed
their innards these days
oh, Bumblebee Burgers and Golden Finch Fries
will still hit the spot
but Butterfly Splits and Dragonfly Pies
are a bit o’re the top
so do not worry
it won’t be late
this midnight soirée
will close down by 8

Quints Jam
the woodwind quintet
is surprised and upset
that a brass french horn-et
is allowed on their set
while the woodwinds complained
the french horn explained
that his rich rounded sound
kept the woodwinds anchored down
so they threw up their hands
made a quick change of plans
and that’s how it began
for the woodwind “Quints Jam”!

in translucent honey haze
autumn comes alive
with transparent amber days
inky blue nights
fill infinite skies
cool winds collide
pushing summer aside
from translucent to transparent
these transitions are inherent
seasons come and they go
with their foibles quite apparent

are questioning this
could this August be
more perfect.... what bliss!
with cool linen days
sun dried, whitened bright
and navy blue nights
glitter sprinkled, twinkling lights
‘though we do love summer’s song
when those H’s* come on strong
we might be just a bit
distressed over it.....

at the far end of summer
I woke up to see
my cowsers, indeed
eating tatters and seeds
the birdies and bees
and butterfly-ees
so curiously
were packing to flee
seems nectar so sweet
that thirst quenching treat
was gone completely
said their twitters and tweets
so I’m left behind
with nothing but time
that’s filled to the brim
with memories of them....
at the far end of summer
I so want to be
at the beginning of spring
2 thousand something..
