these transitions are inherent 

seasons come and they go

with their foibles quite apparent

I’m happy it shines

on your plants and mine

though we’re all confined

by our hot/humid clime

this season’s not bad

I hasten to add

but we both agree

that donkey and me

we’ll miss these high temps

as autumn comes next...

what ho

I really want to know

who’s lying in that manger bed

with a stable roof o’er His head

and why are there reindeer 

flying in the night sky

with a guy in a sleigh 

following close behind

And

there’s a tree in our house

with packages strewn about

that I’m not s’posed to touch

and there seems to be such

a decorating fuss

it’s confusing, you know

for a two year old, so

I’ll just ask BB

I’m hoping that she

can explain it to me!

fat and sassy, finches golden

buzzing bees, their bellies bulgin'

full to bursting butterflies

nap and snooze ‘neath sunny skies

sated creatures one and all

thank those girls who stand so tall

these are the days we’ve waited for

and when they’re gone, we’ll long for more…

we hope for in November

lose in January

right through February

cry for in March

die for in April

can’t wait one more day

for the merry month of May

and still cold temps cling

to every bloomin’ thing!

so when the month of June

bursts suddenly into view

I look around and smile

a cool weightless breeze

a sun so friendly

you’re simply at ease

some 90 plus temps

which should be exempt

come back with a shout

and knock us right out

oh yes there’s the rub

to early fall fun

those idyllic days

come quickly undone....
