the mark i set

and though i know

bragadocio

is not allowed

i’ll not be cowed

i’ve got a LOT

that hit the spot

that’s great, you say

but not so, hey

it’s hard to paint

more-better-best

that makes me sweat

Sophie Says

what ho

I really want to know

who’s lying in that manger bed

with a stable roof o’er His head

and why are there reindeer 

flying in the night sky

with a guy in a sleigh 

following close behind

And

there’s a tree in our house

with packages strewn about

that I’m not s’posed to touch

and there seems to be such

a decorating fuss

it’s confusing, you know

for a little kid so

I’ll just ask BB

I’m hoping that she

can explain it to me!

C'mon Man

so we followed the rulz

like good boys ’n gulz

doubled our masks

and dosed up on vaxx

degermed to compulsion

followed science to exhaustion

and still those cooties

causing covid19

are ruling our days

and all of our ways

we’re barely allowed

to gather in crowds

those holiday feasts

have nearly deceased

and now we’ve been warned

our Christmas should be scorned

no celebratin' on earth

of our dear Saviour's birth....

chickens are funny

their demeanors rarely sunny

it seems they’re addicted

and undeniably afflicted

with an un-named disease

or “condition” if you please

that affects their whole being

and fogs up their seeing

‘cause down in the pen

a red-head's the source

of a hen-pecked's remorse......

a painting to rest

it may not be done

though there are intense

and beautiful hues

that seem to make sense

we want to be sure

we have to confess

that this work secures

twas time to relax

and take in the sight

of figs back to back

huddling tight

seems they were just cold

‘though this autumn's plight

had less bite, I’m told

and surely “they're" right!

but autumn  it is

and figsare like me
