Com-Poser in Red Watercolors by Bertie Brown
Com-Posers
original watercolor sunflowers: 11" x 15"
Adagio Dance...
It’s a scorcher today
With intensive sun rays
My sunflowers have stopped
Their jitterbug hop
Choosing caution instead
With a rest in their bed
But before they retire
They’re feeling inspired
By their many dine-ees
To try if by chance
The Adagio Dance
They sway with the breeze
Take two steps, then three
Twirl and lift up their leaves
Bid the finches and bees
Come feast on our seeds
Sip nectar if they please
It’s a slow dance, you see
For the birdies and bees
Those flighty dine-ees
And admiring garden-ees
Sophie and me!

Relativity Watercolors by Bertie Brown
Relativity
original watercolor still life w/horns, shells: 15" x 15"
Theory of Relativity
Sophie says, gee
what could these be
horns of brass, three
and shells from the sea
I wonder if these
by someone’s theory
are relatively
related..could be
‘cause I’ve heard, you see
long tones played with ease
on whelk and conch shells
by my own BB!
so here’s what I think
those brass instruments
were invented right quick
‘cause a Mozart soloist
needed less sand, more lip!

Convening Com-Posers Watercolors by Bertie Brown
Convening Com-Posers
original watercolor sunflowers: 15" x 17"
Swill at The Sunflower Saloon
Would you all know
If you do, just say so
What you possibly think
Could be in that drink
My Sunflower Saloon
Is serving at noon?
It seems to me
From what I see
After drinking their fill
Of sunflower swill
Are tipsy bumble bees
And drunken butterflies
And finches on trips
of loops, dips and flips
As they try to fly
The straight narrow line
To their homes and hives...
Oh I have a hunch
It’s not Kool-Aid punch
That beckons this bunch
To come enjoy lunch!

Curious Com-Posers Watercolors by Bertie Brown
Curious Com-Posers
original watercolor sunflowers: 15" x 15"
Curiosity
curiouser and curiouser
it seems to me
this summer’s the bomb
at flirting, you see
‘cause just when you feel
a cool weightless breeze
a sun so friendly
you’re relaxin’ indeed
a thick hulking cloud
of hu-MID-ity
descends with a shout
and spreads itself out
oh yes there’s the rub
to summer time fun
those idyllic days
come quickly undone....

Rhythm 'n Blues Watercolors by Bertie Brown
Rhythm 'n Blues
original watercolor still life w/carnival glass, bottles and horn: 15" x 15"
summer solstice
‘tis mid-summer to soon
what happened to June?
and July’s on the run
yet it’s hardly begun!
i don’t know about you
but I’m gonna assume
you’re distraught just like me
‘cause we love summer’s ease
i’m thinking we might
have to put up a fight
so when summertime ends
let’s begin it again

original watercolor sunflowers: 9" x 15"
The Belly Deli
The Girls are back
Dressed in Gold and black
Relaxing, sunbathing
With birds and bees waiting
For a nectar and seed tasting
it’s a bevy of bellies
In my backyard Belly Deli

Circulating Com-Posers Watercolors by Bertie Brown
Circulating Com-Posers
original watercolor sunflower field: 14" x 15"
A Mid-Summer's Romance
Take a moment,
Just relax
Look forward, think back...
Jasmine and Honeysuckle
Scents of seduction
Flirty Fireflies wink
Quick bursts of combustion
Warm summer nights
A cashmere caress
Sun-draped daylight
Crisp linen, sparkling white
Ahh, summer's sun-dance
Care to join me, per-chance?

Confessing Com-Posers Watercolors by Bertie Brown
Confessiing Com-Posers
original watercolor sunflowers: 14" x 15"
Finch Flies
oh, the finches frenzied flight
simply a stunning yet silly sight
their path a series of dips and scoops
lofty lifts and lyrical loops
all the while holdin’
their scrumptious find
the seeds that they’ve stolen
from your sunflowers and mine...
