summer is waning
i do hate to say
it wasn’t the best-est
in many a way
oh, some days were great
clear skies to the moon
the sun dripping rays
sunflowers in bloom
but most days were WET
with water drenched air
rain forest-y, yes
oppressive, you bet
still…summer’s the time
when memories shine
and life seems a bit
more civilized, kind
