Methods and Madness

Sometimes I paint fast and loose

Other times quite controlled

The subject decides the method

But each work has the same goal:

A painting that is successful

And beautiful to behold!

Bach to Work - Watercolors by Bertie Brown - Art is Instrumental

Bach to Work

original watercolor musical motif w/piano, violin, Bach: 11" x 12"

Bach to work

for I’ll not shirk

my art nor the rent

there are bills coming yet

‘though my money’s been spent

on giving, I guess...

since giving is best

methinks I’m quite blessed!

Musically Inclined/Piano, Violin, Horn / Watercolors by Bertie Brown - Art is Instrumental

Musically Inclined/Piano,Violin, Horn

original watercolor musical motif: 11" x 14"

when listening to music

I simply must

have Beethoven’s lush

symphonic paint brush

symbolic’ly held

in the grasp of my hand

as a keyboard commands

the violin to bow

while the horn plays so-lo.....

Baubles and Bells Watercolor Still Life by Bertie Brown - Art is Instrumental

Baubles and Bells

original watercolor still life: 15" x 18"

Sophie Says

what ho

I really want to know

who’s lying in that manger bed

with a stable roof o’re His head

and why are there reindeer

flying in the night sky

with a guy in a sleigh

following close behind

And

there’s a tree in our house

with packages strewn about

that I’m not s’posed to touch

and there seems to be such

a decorating fuss

it’s confusing, you know

for a two year old, so

I’ll just ask BB

I’m hoping the she

can explain it to me!

Bertie's Buoys by Bertie Brown

Bertie's Buoys

painted lobster floats

sometimes I must

simply adjust

my view of the world

and try something new

for a week...maybe two

so now here are four

of my buoys

for your door

...by your bed

on the floor...

or some other place, I’m sure

they’re happy to be

wherever they’re seen

they’ll brighten your mood

these lobster buoy dudes!

It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like...Watercolor Still Life with Marbles, Jacks, Horns by Daily Painter Bertie Brown

It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like...

original watercolor still life with marbles, jacks, horns: 14" x 13"

and this is the question

can I toss intention

and renounce all strife

at this stage of life?

could I, if you please,

watch Hallmark TV

munch Christmas cookies

sip egg-nog, not tea

would I, do you see,

be happy with ease??

seems I have this need

to paint constantly

and horns are the best

‘posers’, I suggest!
