with a painting or two

there’s music, of course

and sunflowers, sure

with pitchers and more

from still lifes of yore

it’s funny, you know

when themes just won’t go

and my artwork shows

she’s seen ev’rywhere

well that’s how it seems

it’s nat’ral you know

‘cause curiously

most cats are the same

they’re curious you see

so if there’s a change

some diff’rent decor

she’s gonna be there

to check it, for sure!

back in the day

I remember we played

with marbles and jacks

and baseballs and bats

but sometimes I recall

though I tried hard to stall 

I had to apply

my  lip 

to the tip

of my tarnished old horn

and try not to sound

too bad or forlorn

much later I found

practice, patience plus time

would greatly improve

my horn teacher’s mood!

to prey on a trout

cause she’s a feline

but hey, can’t she see

that place setting’s mine

with posies sublime,

a  glass of red wine
