Sophie’s Pouty Poppies
our poppies are wailin’
has the sun gone sailin’?
their petals are drippin’
their stems cannot lift ‘em
they’re sad and be-draggled
their foliage is fraggled
‘tis def’nitely not
a show stopping lot
but we won’t despair
though there’s puddles everywhere
we hope the rains stop
so our poppies can Pop!
and maybe next year
when a new crop appears
the rains will be done
and they'll dance in the sun!
