Sunflower Alley
original watercolor sunflower field: 12" x 10"
my sunflowers are done
their petals are gone
though the finches, I see
are still havin’ fun
they no longer cling
to those sunflower rims
to pull split and spit
the shells that they fling
they just take their seats
at the table..a feast!
it’s the best buffet yet
for those finches, I bet
‘tis a glorious thing
as I hear them all sing
but for me, I just fret
‘cause autumn comes next!
