Burden Burro Watercolors by Bertie Brown

Burden Burro

original watercolor w/sunflowers, poppies, brass trio: 11" x 14"

It ain’t heavy

it’s my stuff

said the donkey

in a huff!

but I think I know

that some things I must

get rid of without

too much of a fuss

tis 2013

which will totally be

what I make it, you see

good bad or ugly!

Burden Burro Watercolors by Bertie Brown

Burden Burro

original watercolor w/donkey, poppy, horn: 11" x 14"

orphaned and yet

the feeling I get

is one of relief

along side the grief

tis mine but to bear

like that burro up there

who carries his load

while he trots down the road

I watch him go by

and hear myself sigh

that’s how this life goes

but it’s still hard to know

A Little Night Music Musical Motif Watercolors by Bertie Brown

A Little Night Music

original musical motif watercolor w/drums, drummer: 7" x 11"

A Little Night Music

original musical motif watercolor w/drums, guitars: 7" x 11"

a musician displays

exhibitionist ways

but it’s all okay

‘cause music filled days

and nights do remain

quite high on our list

of things we like best

so please don’t insist

we cease and desist!

Trio Trouble Musical Motif Watercolors by Daily Painter Bertie Brown

Trio Trouble

original musical motif watercolor w/trumpet, horn, trombone: 11" x 14"

the task of the horn

is to cast off all scorn

and proudly display

his technical ways

like a peacock, he struts

all his finery stuff

and if that’s not enough

he’ll wail in disgust

his penchant for flair

o’ershadows the pair

of brass partners there

but he doesn’t care

For Unto Us Watercolors by Daily Painter Bertie Brown

For Unto Us

original abstract watercolor w/donkey: 11" x 14"

Sophie Says

what ho

I just want to know

who’s lying in that manger bed

with a stable roof o’er His head

and why are there reindeer

flying in the night sky

with a guy in a sleigh

following close behind

And

there’s a tree in our house

with packages strewn about

that I’m not s’posed to touch

and there seems to be such

a decorating fuss

it’s confusing, you know

for a three year old, so

I’ll just ask BB

I’m hoping that she

can explain it to me!

Valley of the Sun Watercolors by Daily Painter Bertie Brown

Valley of the Sun

original abstract watercolor: 11" x 14"

that trusty old ass

tramps over the grass

as golden sun rays

dance through these cool days

I’m happy it shines

on your plants and mine

though we’re all confined

by our northeast clime

this season’s not bad

I hasten to add

but we both agree

that donkey and me

we’ll miss these cool temps

as winter comes next....

SunFish Abstract Watercolors by Daily Painter Bertie Brown

SunFish

original abstract watercolor: 11" x 14"

I think that it’s done

and I had some fun

‘though there a few

solutions that skewed

my original view

and managed to be

surprising, you see

so now I don’t know

if it’s fit to show

if not,

 you’ve just got

to tell me to Stop!
