Spring Musical

oh spring

is the thing

we hope for in November

long for in December

lose in January

right through February

cry for in March

die for in April

can’t wait one more day

for the merry month of May

and still cold temps cling

to every bloomin’ thing!

so when the month of June

bursts suddenly into view

I'll look around and smile

PLEASE stay with me awhile

Sophie and I 

Were shopping for clues

What could we possibly 

Paint that is new

We passed by the eggplants 

With nary a glance

We’ve done them before

Those red beets next door

Were also a boor

But then Sophie spied

From the corner of her eye

Some onions, a bunch

And she had a hunch

We placed PopPop's boots

By onions and roots

She said we should paint them

And work really fast!

We knew it was time

To end this short rhyme!

Winter Blues

oh, how i long for June or July

and summer sunshine

filling the sky

this season of cold 

has taken it’s hold

with harsh winds awailin’

and snow flakes asailin’

this winter’s so long

it’s long in the tooth

let’s give it a shove

let’s give it the boot!

i’m sportin’ my mitties

and ear muffs indoors

wool sweaters and wristies

but still i need more

each year winter’s gittin’

too hard to endure

i should be just sittin'

on some southern shore

instead i’ve got blankets 

piled high on my lap

i’m ready, in fact

for a mid-winter’s nap……

this winter’s so long

it’s long in the tooth

let’s give it a shove

let’s give it the boot!

my heating bill’s HUGE

yet my house is cold

i’m grumpy like Scrooge

with a frozen billfold…

there’s snow on my roof

and ice in my veins

my fingers, i’ve proof

are going insane!

they’re sending their prints

to sunnier climes

i think i’ll insist

i join them in this

we’ll drive ’til we find

a welcoming spot

long on sunshine

with no winter bite!
